"El hecho de que cinco titulares de Chivas hayan sido convocados a la selección y que no puedan venir de ninguna manera representa una desventaja ante el América, porque vamos a ser 11 contra 11 y en la cancha los nombres ya no importan", advirtio Benjamín Galindo, técnico de Guadalajara.
Galindo asistio a la rueda de prensa acompañado por Juan Pablo Alfaro y Alejandro Vela, mientras por America asistieron Ochoa, Christian Jiménez e Ismael Rodríguez, todos vestido en ropa deportiva tras haber terminado sus respectivos entrenamientos.
Ambos cuadros entrenaron por separado, Chivas lo hizo en el estadio de Carson, mientras América, a puerta cerrada y sin acceso a medios de comunicación, lo hizo en el Coliseo de Los Angeles.
A la conferencia asistió el alcalde la ciudad de Los Angeles, el mexicoamericano Antonio Villarraigosa, quien acudió a hacer entrega de un reconocimiento a ambos equipos por traer ese espectáculo que él mismo llamó "extraordinario por ser un clásico que ha durado 62 años".
"Es un privilegio ver un partido entre dos gigantes del mundo de los deportes que nos vienen a confirmar que David Bekham no es la única estrella del fútbol", dijo emocionado el alcalde, quien confió que su padre era del Distrito Federal y su esposa de Guadalajara, por lo que por ello no podía tener un favorito.
Christian Jiménez afirmó que aunque América lleve 21 partidos invicto, este encuentro va a motivar a mantener esa calidad y lo importante será sacar un buen resultado porque la mentalidad del América ha sido pensar siempre en ganar.
"Este encuentro, por su característica, pierde su definición de amistoso y aunque no vamos a arriesgar por nuestra prioridad que es el torneo, vamos a tratar de ganar como sea, pero, eso si jugando, con inteligencia", añadió.
Galindo comentó que este encuentro es muy atractivo, como siempre lo ha sido, y es importante ganarlo para todos y más hacerlo en la ciudad en donde se puede considerar la tercera con el mayor numero de aficionados de Chivas, resaltó.
El técnico de Chivas adelantó que para este cotejo pondrá de siete a ocho jóvenes, para probar a quienes le podrían ser útiles y responder así a la exigencia de las nuevas reglas de la Federación Mexicana de Futbol, que impone a un jugador menor de 20 años.
Galindo reconoció que un clásico se disfruta mucho más en el terreno de juego que en la banca, porque un clásico deja de ser amistoso y la rivalidad no sólo es entre jugadores sino entre técnicos y hasta entre utileros, aseguró.
-¨No extrañan a Palencia que se ha integrado al Chivas USA?, se le preguntó.
-Por supuesto que lo hemos extrañado muchísimo por su temperamento y porque es un jugador ganador, respondió Galindo
Por las Chivas no viajaron Oswaldo Sánchez, Carlos Salcido, Francisco "Maza" Rodríguez, Ramón Morales y Omar Bravo, mientras por América no lo hicieron Pavel Pardo y Oscar Rojas, todos convocados a la selección mexicana.
De igual forma por Aguilas no viajó el argentino Claudio "El Piojo" López por lesión.

Bekham's first MLS season
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – David Beckham's first Major League Soccer season began with a blast of confetti, a series of speeches and irrepressible optimism amid a jostling scrum of international media on a sunny morning last July.
Season No. 1 ended on a windswept afternoon at Toyota Park on Sunday with a gnawing sense of what might have been for Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy. They now have a long offseason to reflect on what happened after failing to make the playoffs in a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Fire.
It's also time to analyze Beckham's impact since coming to MLS. The whirlwind period of his life saddled him with countless obstacles of a personal and professional nature, and it left him with an unforgettable experience as well as a sense of frustration.
"If David writes an autobiography at the end of his career, then this year will need to be a pretty big chapter," Galaxy president Alexi Lalas said.
Lalas is right. From being hailed as the savior of North American soccer to being castigated for returning too slowly from injury in some quarters and attacked for coming back too quickly in others, from a glorious free kick in his competitive home debut to the shock of his father's life-threatening heart attack, Beckham has a hoard of mixed memories to store away from 2007.
So amid all the hype and headlines, what has Beckham done right and wrong since he was swapped from Real Madrid's Galacticos to the Galaxy? Here's the report card.

Beckham spent most of the season sidelined through injury, but his arrival has given MLS the kind of publicity it could only previously have dreamed about.
Matches are now broadcast internationally and crowds have flocked to see the Galaxy, even for matches in which Beckham was ruled out. Also, other high-profile stars in Europe (namely Thierry Henry and Luis Figo) are considering MLS as a realistic option for a change of scenery.

Marvin Avila scored twice as Guatemala came from behind to beat a youthful Mexico side 3-2 in a bad-tempered friendly on Wednesday in which both teams ended the game with nine men.
Guatemala took the lead at the Coliseum when Rigoberto Gomez hooked home an Avila cross from close range but two quick goals put Mexico in charge.
Cesare Villaluz found Carlos Vela in the 31st minute and the striker made no mistake, screwing his shot past Guatemala keeper Paulo Cesar Motta to bring the scores level.
A minute later Villaluz was on target with a fine left-foot drive from the edge of the area to give Hugo Sanchez's side the lead at the break.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Villaluz and Guatemal's Carlos Ruiz were sent off following a fracas on the half-way line.
Nine minutes later Mexico were down to nine men when Gonzalo Pineda was dismissed for elbowing an opponent and Guatemala took full advantage of their extra man.
The Mexico defence's attempt to clear a corner fell only as far as Yoni Flores who hooked the ball into Avila's path and the Guatemala striker produced a superb first-time shot with the outside of his left foot that curled into the far corner.
In the 73rd minute Mexico defender Hector Moreno made a hash of an attempted sliding back pass and the ball fell to the alert Avila who slotted home from close range.
Guatemala had defender Lionel Noriega dismissed with six minutes remaining but held firm for an impressive victory.

My Opinion on Soccer
Soccer is an overall great fun loving sport in my opinion. I think it is good because it teaches you to be humble, work in a team, and be sociable. I think it is also great because it is popular all over. It also brings cultures all over the world because it is a sport than every one can reunite. The best thing about soccer is the world cup because it brings cultures all over the world togeather for the love of one game. Playing soccer is also very fun when you are trying. It provides relief of stress because it only gets you focused on the game and nothing else. It is also a very great way to get people who use drugs out of them. This is because they only focus on the game that they have no time to think about the drugs and all the bad stuff. Over all soccer is a great sport to watch and play.

This organization was formed in 1964 it's purpose was to get young kids to play soccer. It started as 9 teams who dreamed to make it bigger. Now it has more than 50,000 teams and more than 650,000 players. This organization has created many great programs and concepts such as " Everyone Plays." The first program to include girls started in 1971. Now adays the organisation is starting to spread all over the world.

How soccer is played
Soccer has another common name which is football. It is a sport played by 11 players. It is played with a round ball and by using only your feet the only one allowed to use their hands in the goalie..the goalie is the one that blocks the goals from the opposing team. Also the players can use their heads once in a while. The team that scores the most goals is the winner, in case there is a tie a draw is declared or the game goes into extra time or penalty shootout.
